Northern Prep Squad

Our Story

As performers growing up in the North we wanted to change the amount of opportunities available especially when it came to working with Industry Professionals and so, NPS was born.

Based in the North of England and welcoming young performers from across the UK, Ireland, and Jersey, Northern Prep Squad offers children and families up-to-date industry knowledge from a team of professionals actively working in film, TV, stage, and creative production, alongside guest artists from across the industry.

We partner with local performing arts schools and specialists to bridge the gap between weekly classes and the professional world. Our Squad members—whether aspiring to or already working in the industry—receive technical training, mentorship, and insider guidance while keeping their unique personality and creative spark alive.

We mean business—but we have a blast doing it. Sessions are packed with energy, laughter, and challenges that push our young performers to grow. We teach the skills, share the insider know-how, and build the confidence they need to navigate the industry with professionalism and passion—without ever losing their individuality.

With our nationwide management reach, industry expertise, and family-style community, we help young performers grow, shine, and achieve success while maintaining joy, individuality, and connection. We are run as a business that feels like family.

Our aim is to prepare young performers mentally, physically, and with a full understanding of the professional industry. Through our Associates Programme, Holiday Opportunities, and Management, we encourage every Squad member to step outside their comfort zone and develop a growth mindset—skills essential for professional success.

While technical ability is vital, mindset is our priority. We surround our performers with a team who share our values of resilience, curiosity, and creativity, ensuring that every young person feels supported, challenged, and inspired.

Guided by active industry professionals, we deliver sessions that are both practical and inspiring. We work only with coaches and guest artists who bring exceptional skills, current knowledge, and genuine passion for their craft—broadening each performer’s horizons and helping them see the many pathways the performing arts can offer.

LUCY - TA/Admin Assistant

I’ve trained in theatre from a young age, both onstage and back stage. I hold a distinction grade 8 singing qualification with London College of Music and I’m training to complete my teaching qualification. My love of theatre lead me to complete a BA Honours degree in Theatre, Acting and Performance from the University of Hull, for which I received a first.

I attended the first ever NPS workshop in 2019 and I’ve been part of the squad ever since! When struggling in lockdown I asked to volunteer for the rescheduled summer intensive and I’ve since become part of the furniture. From Summer Intensives to monthly Associates I have the pleasure of regularly working alongside Northern Prep Squad and watching new squad members develop and grow.

ED - Acting Coach

Leeds born and Bradford bred let's welcome Ed. Trained in Preston at UCLAN leaving with a First degree in BA Hons Acting.

Edward has gone on to perform in various short films and plays. His most notable work includes guest starring on BBC Doctors & BBC Three' Domino Day. When he's not acting he is personal training and when he's not personal training he's still keeping physically fit and mentally prepared for any future roles and auditions that come his way. He is a third Dan Black Belt in Freestyle kickboxing which marries up nicely with his Stage combat teaching.

Ed is currently auditioning professionally and is represented by Ignite Elite Artists.

JESSY - MINIS Mentor and MT teaching assistant.

Hi, my name is Jessy and I am a bubbly young creative and performer who has trained in dance my whole life. I learnt to dance at Bodyrockers Dance studio where I started teaching from a young age to a range of dancers. At the age of 16 I trained at Capa College and successfully gained my A-levels then moved onto the leading dance University ADDICT Dance Academy. This is where I’m furthering my skills in dance and performing.

My Journey at Northern Prep Squad was some of the best years! I participated in the MT and Acting associate programmes where I gained so many skills from Jourdan & Jess that I continue to use in my professional and teaching career. Northern Prep Squad gave me the tools to go onto professional training and be accepted into my dream colleges and universities.

OLIVIA - Teaching Assistant.

Hi, I’m Liv! Performing arts has always been a huge part of my life, and I have trained in all three disciplines from a young age. I studied at CAPA College from 16 to 18, before continuing my training at The Urdang Academy, where I graduated this year with a First Class BA (Hons) degree in Musical Theatre. My journey with Northern Prep Squad began back in 2019 with a FAME masterclass, and since then I’ve learned so much from the incredible performers and creatives I’ve had the chance to work with. I later went on to be part of the Musical Theatre Associates programme, which gave me invaluable skills and confidence - leading me to secure a place at my dream drama school! Now alongside auditioning in the professional world, I’m excited to bring my enthusiasm, energy, and passion to this role!

We believe that the performing arts is for everyone. If we can help you to fully access and be included in our sessions, taking into consideration any additional needs, please let us know. Do not hesitate to get in touch via email/phone to discuss how we can support you or your young performer.
