Join our team along with West End professionals to learn how to be an all important SWING! Every West End/UK Tour has them and yet loads of people still have no idea of the importance of the role of a Swing.

So what is a swing?

A swing refers to a member of the cast who understudies several ensemble roles. These ensemble roles are called "tracks." A swing performs if an ensemble member is out of the show or has to cover another role in the show, as many ensemble members also have understudy duties. This means a swing has to know multiple tracks ready to be “swung” in at any given moment. 

This is a vital role in any cast and takes a special type of performer. It requires hard work, versatility and a fast brain to jump from track to track and character to character sometimes MID SHOW!

So what is Swing School?

At swing school you will work with some fantastic industry pros who have had the tough role of being a swing in a professional contract. We will look at how swings work, the tips and tricks they use to navigate multiple roles. Each day you will learn a small snippet of a ensemble number both song, dance and acting HOWEVER ... you will learn multiple tracks (parts). At the end of the day we will record 2 versions. In the first performance you will play your “Role” which we will practise with you predominately throughout the day. The second recording you will SWING! This means that throughout the day you will not only have to concentrate on your role, but a hand full of others too ready for if you get called up to swing!

Open to ages 8-21yrs - Each Squad member will be give a different amount of tracks to cover dependent on age/ability.

Payment Details:

Our Swing School requires a £50 per day in order to secure your place. You must book each day separately.

*Please note that before attending you will be required when asked to log into our Squad log in and create a profile. This will include emergency information, medical information and grant permission for us to film, take photos etc. Your young performer MUST have all of this information filled out prior to arrival.
